Myeongdong is located in the heart of Metro Seoul and the trendiest place in the city. There are numerous fashion streets lined with mid to high-end retail stores, international brands and a lot of Korean cosmetic outlets in the area. It is also surrounded by major department stores if you want upscale shopping. If you are planning for a trip to Seoul, this shopping paradise should be on your list of places to visit. 🙂
Last weekend, I was craving for some street food and I wanted to do some autumn shopping. So, on our way home, I asked Andy to drop me at Myeongdong. It was already late in the afternoon and according to my weather app, it would rain in the evening; so I decided to quickly check only Zara, Mixxo, H&M and Forever 21 to buy some autumn clothes. But before shopping, I walked along the main alley to grab something to eat. You know, it’s hard to eat when you are carrying shopping bags. Hehe.
The food selection in Myeongdong has been changing over the years. Not so many years ago, there were only few food carts selling typical Korean snacks like odeng, tteokbokki, sundae, bungeo bbang, etc. Now, there are sweets, desserts, fresh fruits and drinks, foreign food and many more.
Myeongdong is not only about shopping. It’s also a place where you can enjoy different kinds of food. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants in the area if you get tired and hungry after shopping. Here are some photos of the food carts along the main alley. Expect more carts than what you can see on the photos.
The main alley is just outside Exit 6 or 7 of Myeongdong Station Line 4.
