Nami Island: Winter Sonata Filming Location

Few weeks ago, Andy and I went to the famous Nami Island in Gapyeong. He has been to the place many times but it was our second time together. Actually we didn’t plan to go there that day. We were just driving around looking for some cold patbingsu but we found ourselves heading out to Gyeonggi province. Then we decided to visit the island once again and enjoy the yummy dak galbi and makguksu, the famous food in the area.

Nami island became well known to many tourists because it was the filming location of the popular Korean drama Winter Sonata. Nearly every lane is dotted with plaques commemorating the filming of different scenes and there are plastic snowmen recreating the well-know first kiss scene. If you are a fan of the drama, a trip to this island is sure to be a treat!

“Wide grassy gardens where deer, ostriches, rabbits, squirrels, ducks and countless types of birds flourish. Nami Island is a place where not only nature but also human beings can coexist … Human beings, animals and trees share peace, love and harmony far away from crowds and civilization.”
